I must have read every book on internet marketing, joined every online discussion forum I could and I even paid to have private access to some of the best online marketing experts in the world. Growing up I yearned to be a journalist – but when I took 6 months out of my film and TV university degree to work at BBC, I learnt that I loved making the news rather than reporting it, and after graduating I started working in public relations.

Working for household names such as the charities St John Ambulance and the Guide Association, I honed my creative side, to atract international media interest in the stories I was selling. A skill that continues to serve me well, even in today’s busy digital landscape.

I made the leap and launched an online business, manufacturing luxury organic children’s clothing. But it wasn’t as easy as I expected.
